Hi,

My Runner VX125 has developed a rattle, especially when going over speed bumps or uneven road. At first I thought it was just my security chain jumping about inside the helmet box, but it's not - sounds like it's something loose.

However on quick inspection I can't find anything loose - exhaust pipe is secure, trans cover is secure, stand seems secure and I can't find anything that moves. Otherwise, performance is unaffected.

Any clues what to check for tomorrow ?

Can you tell if it is coming from the front or rear?

You could try banging the tyres with you fist, might at least tell you which end it is coming from.

sorry delay in replying - I locked my account up by mistake.

Anyway, had an inspect over the weekend, and it seems it's the cage nut for the back wheel (centre of the wheel, rhs, just behind the exhaust bracket) that is rattling. The split pin holding it in place is secure. Is this normal ?

Those cage nuts are not supposed to be tight over the nut, they just push on. If the pin is still in place then it should be fine.
