Hi, I'm new to scootering and am trying to find the smallest scooter/moped I can! I'm just a little under 5ft so reaching the ground is a little difficult on the scooters I've seen so far!! I've been told it may be possible to reshape the seat of scooters to make it maybe about an inch lower by cutting the foam, but I need a really low bike in the first place. Advice please.....

Have you tried the Piaggio Zip?

The Ludix isn't as small as you might think.

I've tried both the Zip and the V-clic. I can just reach the floor with the tips of my toes and no more! I'm not sure it would be that safe really, felt a little unstable and that was just trying them in a shop! TBH the v-clic didn't seem much difference seat height wise when trying it out compared with a zip. I've also tried a Sym Mio which out of the 3 was the one I felt most comfortable with, though still not ideal on reaching the ground. I prefer the style of the other 2 better and also the price of a Mio is a bit more than I wanted to pay (looking at no more than £1000 really).
Any other ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Lowest seat height I know of is the Suzuki Burgman 125cc at 735mm. The Zip is 740mm. Take a browse through the french Scoot Infos site, and look for Hauteur de selle on the Essais page of individual scooters. Tip: watch for the Union Flag logo at the top of each page and it will do machine-translation of that page into (sort of) english. http://www.scooter-infos.com/essais.html

Thanks for all the suggestions - I have now got a Piaggio Zip and will be getting some of the seat foam cut away.

If you like fiddling you could try to lower the seat by cutting off the rim and lowering the whole seat (if possible). cheers

Let down the tyres! That'll lower the seat height!! I wonder if you can get low profile tyres - that would help too!
