West Country ride
By: Mau Spencer
Devon Air Ambulance Trust is hosting their 6th annual Motorbike Ride Out on Sunday July 10th. There will be three registration and start points; Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter, Bardon Aggregates car park opposite George White Motorcycles in Plympton and Zukis Cafe in Winkleigh. Each ride will start at 10am and cover approximately 45 miles through the beautiful Devon countryside, finishing at Paignton Green in Torbay.
At Paignton Green, where families and friends are welcome to join the riders, there will be live music from popular Devon bands The Cadence and Ten Feet Tall. There will also be exhibition and trade stands from supporters and a choice of catering. All riders receive a goodie bag and all bikes will be entered for judging. Trophies will be awarded to category winners in Best Custom Bike, Best Classic Bike and Best In Show.
Devon’s Air Ambulances attend many road traffic incidents throughout the year, many of which involve motorcycles where riders often need airlifting to a specialist hospital as a matter of urgency. The medical attention and care given by our Paramedics at the scene of an incident and the speed with which they can convey patients to the most appropriate hospital is paramount to their survival and recovery.
Caroline Creer, Director of Fundraising for Devon Air Ambulance Trust, said: “Our annual Motorcycle Ride Out is always incredibly well supported. It’s such a good day out and the atmosphere on Paignton Green is amazing. The motorcycling community of Devon is very appreciative of the work of the Devon Air Ambulance and this is one event where they can be involved and really give something back”.
You can take part in this year’s annual Devon Air Ambulance Motorcycle Ride Out on Sunday July 10th for £12, by registering from 0830 at any of the three start points as above. Cash only please.
