DVLA to close licensing centres

It has been announced by the Roads Minister, Mike Penning, that 1,200 staff at all 39 Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency centres in the UK will lose their jobs by 2013.  Their role will supposedly be centralised at the HQ site in South Wales and make access to DVLA services 'easier and quicker'.

This will, inevitably, cause problems for any rider dealing with imported vehicles, for instance, where a 'face to face' discussion is always helpful.  It will make the vehicle inspections that are part of this process more complex to organise and drive up the associated costs to the customer.
