Broken weather, but not broken bones
By: Web Editor
At long last, it looks as though the weather has finally broken and after months of cold, freezing conditions we are free of frost and ice.
In mid-May we experienced some fantastic weather (well, locally where I live anyway) with temperatures reaching in excess of 30 degrees – in fact, on one day the outside temperature gauge on the scooter registered 34 degrees – that was hot!
However, it’s not all good news and we now seemed to be left with the legacy of a harsh winter with roads full of cracked Tarmac and potholes – some of which are so deep, that they are highly dangerous to anyone on two wheels. I’ll give our local council their due; around here at least, they have started repair work, but that in itself is leading to new dangers. Having chosen the option of ‘flashing’ the road over with a new surface we are now faced with miles and miles of newly gritted roads. This has resulted locally in a spate of accidents caused by loose grit and numerous punctures.
I’m guessing that this problem is not just a local one to me, but is the same all over the UK. All I can say is be careful out there. The last place you want to be is in the back of an ambulance, or in a ditch. Drive carefully and be aware of the situation around you.
With the health and safety brief out of the way, let’s get on to this issue. It’s another bumper edition and I’m afraid it’s that same old song about not having room to get everything in. But there should be something to everyone’s tastes, so read on and enjoy!
Safe riding,
Mau
