It’s fair to say that Peugeot have a fairly comprehensive scooter line-up ranging from their budget V-Clic right through to their flagship superscoot, the Satelis 500. They’ve also got a sporty little number with the Speedfight 3, but until now haven’t really had a middle-of-the-road, attractive 125cc commuter scooter at an affordable price.

A one-off Typhoon

KYMCO Super 8 125

KYMCO had quite a successful year in the UK in 2009. Despite the gloomy financial news that we eventually got sick of hearing about, the UK importers exceeded sales forecasts, launched new models. To top it all, the Super 8 50 beat off stiff competition to take third spot in a Gadget Show ‘Top five 50cc scooters’ feature.

We often get laughed at riding scooters and other twisties by people not believing they’re real bikes. That can make us feel inadequate as we poodle along slowly, but what their bikes can do, ours can do better. To prove that, I’ve just ridden my 105cc semi-automatic Honda trail bike from Sydney to London.
